What are melamine countertops?
Melamine countertops are popular in furniture and interior finishes. They are commonly used in: desks, tables, wardrobes and kitchen cabinets. Melamine is a type of table top finish created with a synthetic material. It is a plastic with high strength and durability. Melamine countertop consists of three main layers. Inside, there is a chipboard or MDF on which a layer of melamine is applied that gives the appearance and colour. It is most often covered with additional protection in the form of varnish or laminate, which increases its resistance to abrasion and staining. That is why it is so common to find furniture with melamine in offices, where it has been used for many years.
